COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is intended to help the student understand the need for and the counseling skills required for crisis intervention at a theoretical and practical level. Emphasis on the grief process is presented.
Rationale:
The need for trained insightful crisis counselors cannot be overstated. Modern society is such that almost everyone will experience some high level of stress and undergo the need for crisis counseling. This course is designed to prepare the minister for an effective ministry in crisis counseling, especially with families under stress.
Prerequisite:
An undergraduate-level course in the various forms of psychological crisis would be helpful.
